Back-to-School Quotes (Quotable Bits #35)

We've been preparing all week, and tomorrow, the big event will be here - my big girl will be starting Kindergarten (eek)! In honour of this momentous occasion, I thought I would share 10 back-to-school quotes:

``If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers.`` - Edgar W. Howe

``The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.`` - Sydney J. Harris

``Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.`` - John Dewey

``Education`s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.`` - Malcom S. Forbes

``The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.``  - William Arthur Ward

``Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.`` - Chinese Proverb

``The important thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.`` - B.B. King

``Learning is like rowing upstream: not to advance is to drop back.``  - Chinese Proverb

``Teaching children to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best.`` - Bob Talbert

``All I ever needed to know, I learned in Kindergarten.`` - Robert Fulghum

Linking up with Monday Listicles this week, and if you love quotes, come link up your quotable bits (below), linky will be live all week!
